 APPLICATION LETTERS

Halloo semua kembali lagi dengan aku Farah, kali ini aku akan bawain satu materi yang mungkin sangat kalian butuhkan untuk anak kelas 12 maupun kalian yang akan membuat surat lamaran pekerjaan. Karena disini saya akan membahas secara rinci dari mulai definisi, tujuan, fungsi, struktur, gaya kebahasaan serta contohnya tentang Application Letters ini. 


DEFINITION OF APPLICATION LETTERS

Reporting from the Cambridge Dictionary, an application letter is a letter that you write to a company when you are applying for a job. A job application letter is a letter written to a company when someone applies for a job. The letter is addressed to the part of the company that will select the application letter, usually the human resources department or Human Research and Development (HRD). Through application letters, the company will know about the applicant's identity and qualifications, as well as the position to be applied for. Usually a resume or CV is included to provide details about the applicant's abilities and experience.

THE OBJECTIVE/ FUNTION OF WRITING APPLICATION LETTERS

According to Colorado State University, its main objective is to get the applicant in the door for an interview and must be written well enough to attract the attention and interest of the person with the power to recommend or grant one. The main purpose of an application letter is to give the applicant an opportunity for an interview, it must be written well enough to attract the attention and interest of the person authorized to recommend or grant it. In short, an application letter can make the company interested in inviting us to the next stage of job recruitment, such as an interview or written test. 

THE STRUCTURE IN APPLICATION LETTERS

A. Opening

Applicant information, namely basic information about the sender of the letter. It contains the full name, contact, and address.

- Date, namely the date on which the letter was written.

- Recipient information, namely information about the recipient of the letter. The contents are in the form of the recipient's name, position in the company, company name, company address, and company contact.

B. Body

-Introduction. Fill in your full name, current position (fresh graduate or work), what position you are applying for, and where did you get the locker info.

- Self promotion. It's time to promote yourself as a suitable candidate for the position. This section consists of:

- Skills. Mention any abilities you have while working or in an organization.

- Achievements. Write down the achievements that have been achieved, but don't be grandiose. Just tell me about the obstacles you have faced in your previous organization or job, and how to overcome them. Also write down the most doing the best in what way.

-Experience. Write down previous work or organizational experiences.

-Value to the company. Describe what you can give the company to achieve its goals. This point can make companies interested in job applications.

C. Conclusion

In this section, write a conclusion of what you want from writing the job application letter. Conclusion consists of:

- Expectations. Close the letter by stating the expectations of the company you are applying for. Hope to be contacted back to proceed to the next stage.

-Willingness to work. Show a willingness to be dedicated to the company.

D. Closing

This is the very bottom of the letter. In closing you need to give

- Sign off. Can write “Sincerely,” or “Yours sincerely”

- Signatures. Write signature under sign off. After that, write a clear name under the signature.

Attachments. After everything I wrote above is in order, attach your CV via attachments to send to the company. 

THE EXPRESSIONS COMMONLY USED IN APPLICATION LETTERS

A. Introduction

In order to introduce yourself, you may include any of the following phrases.

    •  At present, I am studying at…..
    •  At the moment, I am working for…..
    •  For the last 5 years, I have been working in the position of…..
    • My current job title is…

B. Reason For Writing

In this section, you will need to explain why you are contacting the reader.

    •  I am writing in response to an advertisement which was placed in…….
    •  I am enquiring as to whether you currently have any positions in the area of……
    •  I am writing to apply for the position of… 

C. Education And Previous Experience

Your prospective employer is going to be interested to know what qualifications you have, here are some ways to express this information.

    • I have experience in…..and have worked at…….for the last…..years.
    • My education includes a degree from XY university.
    •  I have been studying (subject) for 3 years.
    •  I am a native English speaker and have ample knowledge of Spanish and Chinese.

D. What Makes You Ideal For This Position?

 You are going to want to convince the reader that you are the best option for this position.

    •  I am a driven and ambitious person who is keen to learn new skills.
    • I believe I am the best choice for this position as I have a lot of experience in my previous role.
    • I feel that I am the most suitable candidate for this job because of my ambition and drive to make a change.
    • I am excited to have the opportunity to be able to work with a reputable company like yours.

E. Closing Statement

At the end of your letter, you will need to close off by saying thank you.

    • Thank you for taking the time to read through my application.
    • Please contact me at any time should you wish to arrange a meeting.
    • Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information.

I am 27 years old and graduated from Gadjah Mada University majoring in Civil Engineering. I have work experience as a design consultant for three years at PT. ADHI KARYA. I mastered several applications that might fit into this section, namely AutoCad and SketchUp.
